By: Priscilla Rosales Medium: Mixed media, digital Size: N/A Number of Pieces: 5 Year of Completion: 2018 Intent When I created my mixed media vs. camera, I am reminded that when creating art, the options are endless. I began my artwork by getting inspired by Ben Heine and going off of the concept of pencil vs. camera. Then I thought of ways of how I could use this concept and translate it to make it my own. After I got my ideas, I took a digital picture, I chose each object I wanted to draw and then created each object with a different type of media (pencil, paint, watercolour, pastel, and pencil crayon). I know when a piece is done when I feel I have met the criteria of what is needed for my project that is given to me, but the work has something added to it to make it unique. When my work is going well, I am filled with a sense of eagerness that makes me to want to keep creating things to add to my work to make it better. When people see my work, I'd like them to hopefully appreciate the work I have created and be able to look at it knowing that it is different than what they've seen before and make their own interpretation of it. So, if one person can get their own feeling or interpretation from my work, then that's when I consider my work successful.
Background Knowledge To complete my artwork, I used my own picture that I had taken and printed it off. Then I shaded the back of the printed picture and traced a general outline for each object I was going to draw since I wanted to make sure that my object was going to match up with the object in the photo for when I was going to put the drawings and picture together in Photoshop. I wanted to draw one object for each picture, so from there, I used pencil for the lace doily, acrylic paint for the teapot, watercolour for the books, pencil crayon for the tea cup and soft pastels for the wood table. Once I finished my drawings, I uploaded them to Adobe Photoshop. I selected each drawing and put them into 5 separate copies of my digital picture. Then, I combined all the drawings together for the viewer to see the contrast from each of my drawings, this was an extra picture that I wanted to do. Once the pictures were done I uploaded them to iMovie . For my video, I wanted to make my video have something extra so that it wasn't just seeing my pieces in a slideshow, so I added a mini stop motion to the start of my video of me setting up my still life to "introduce" my artworks. Once all these pictures were added into iMovie, I added some music from iMovie to enhance the viewer's experience. For my project, I had used one picture for my mixed media vs. camera because I wanted a contrast for each of my mediums that I used and I wanted the viewer to be able to compare each medium to see the difference between them, which I thought might be shown better by using the same picture but having each drawing in a different area of the picture.
